Account Executive

Reporting to: Account Director


You take pride in your ability to strengthen and grow client relationships, execute on annual plans and take complete ownership over campaign and large project work. You have exceptional project management skills and can successfully manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment resulting in successful client engagements.

Ability to talk to more senior clients (VP of Marketing or CEO) with confidence, youre polished, but know when you dont know something.


40% - Client Management: Own the relationship
  • Lead the discovery process with clients, collaborate with team members and embrace clients as partners, using their input to inform and inspire creative ideas
  • Effectively draft, present, sell and explain all agency work/proposals to clients
  • Ensure clear articulation of client and agency deliverables with timelines
  • Ensure Account Director, Chief Growth Officer and/or Chief Client Officer is involved in significant client meetings
  • Grow existing client accounts to meet (or exceed) financial goals
25% Internal Project Management: Drive the bus
  • Collaborate with project team to develop big ideas and brand propositions, document meetings, write final drafts and drive them through to completion
  • Develop strategic/creative/project brief to ensure the Account Coordinator (if applicable) as well as creative/digital/development team is apprised of all relevant account and project details and strategic goals where required
  • Manage projects from concept to completion.
  • Undertake in project retrospective prior to closing a project and if there are issues, set up a retrospective meeting to hold the team accountable
  • Work in a team-based environment for each project
  • Provide leadership and management to Account Coordinators and Changency Assistants
25% Administrative: Focus on getting the job done, not whos going to get it done.
  • Review and proofread all production materials to confirm they meet standards, strategic goals and are error-free prior to client presentation.
  • Responsible for monthly projections, completing monthly billing sheets for accounting, approving invoices and client budget sheet tracking & management
  • Review projects to ensure they are within project scope and assessing profitability for project stage
  • Define and manage Think Shift administration process with clients
10% Communication Planning; Drive the process internally and with the client.
  • Provide marketing, strategic, brand and digital solutions for assigned client accounts
  • Support Account Managers and Account Directors in strategic planning
    • Review studies of each clients marketplace, assessing their brand against competitors, and other similar industries from both a creative and strategic standpoint
  • Present potential ideas in brainstorming and contribute in discussion, does not just take notes
  • Own the tactical writing and budgeting/blocking chart development
  • Present assigned components of the recommended plan (i.e., tactics and budget); knows the material and is ready for fielding questions

Were looking for
  • Bachelors degree in business or marketing and communications is preferred (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • Two to five years of experience in an advertising agency or other client management role (moved beyond the production-based view towards more strategic marketing and identifying opportunities, with vision on the future)
  • A trusted advisor for your clients
  • Strong business writing and editing abilities
  • Agricultural and client industry knowledge is a necessary asset
  • Strong project management abilities
  • Good financial and business acumen
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills
