The Challenge

To manage and develop a portfolio of customers and team of Sales Associates, in order to achieve the sales objectives as designated by DSM Nutritional Products in accordance with DSM standards.

 

The purpose of this position is to lead a successful team of inside sales representatives to generate new projects and revenue growth by pursuing leads, supporting large customers while managing small to mid-size customers.  This team will also partner with Marketing and Communication teams including the sharing of product information and sales collateral, sending samples when appropriate and capturing insights in CRM for their project development.

 

Inside Sales Associates move the prospects from "Lead to Order" and generate more business for all markets in the Human Nutrition and Health segment. 

 

The Position

  • Manage, develop and motivate a high performing inside sales team of 6 - 8.
  • Conduct team meetings to ensure inside sales team members activities align with overall sales objectives.
  • Observe calls with inside sales representatives to identify sales opportunities and provide sales representative coaching and mentoring.
  • Evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase sales effectiveness.
  • Ensures proper training and use of the CRM to implement consistent company practices.
  • Assist in establishing, monitoring, and executing goals for revenue, growth, and KPl's.
  • Sales of DSM products directly to customers or through distribution channel in a designated area, achieving the respective budget targets in volume, price and OPEX.
  • To prospect, searching for new customers, new business and promote innovation.
  • Responsible for proactively locating and prospecting new opportunities for DSM by following up leads and visiting existing and new customers.
  • Act as first line technical representative to customer during initial contact and qualify customer needs. Follow -up on all aspects of requests, both written and verbally. Match DSM products/capabilities/services to customer requirements.
  • Work closely with Business Group Account managers and Consumer Insights and Communication teams when responding to a Request for Proposal (RFP) to gather information of market conditions, pricing issues and current competition on the program.
  • Selectively participate in trade shows, meetings and industry events.
  • Provide frequent and bi-lateral reporting and communication to internal (sales/marketing/communications) of outcomes of negotiations/proposals focusing on conveying the expectations set forth i.e. clear details, critical timeframes and expectations.
  • Track and report on the status of all projects generated by leads via Project Funnel

 

The Ideal

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • 3 to 5 years of Sales management/team leadership experience. Inside Sales management background preferred.
  • Experience in food and beverage / nutritional supplement industry is ideal
  • Ability to develop others' strengths and enhance employee performance.
  • Demonstrates exceptional follow-through, drive and strong desire to make a difference
  • Demonstrated ability to reach and exceed sales targets.
  • Prior work experience with identifying and creating new customer and projects.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with various individuals at all functional levels within an organization to meet customer needs and generate sales
